Normon, one of Europe's most modern laboratories for the manufacture of pharmaceutical products, has completely renewed its strategic logistics concept. The company aims to automate large portions of its material-handling process and needed a logistics system capable of managing a vast volume of 1 million products daily while adhering to rigorous industry regulations.
Normon chose Interroll's advanced conveying technology to enhance its logistics operations. Over 1.5 kilometers of Interroll Modular Conveyor Platform (MCP) were installed to optimize the movement of goods within the facility. A stop-and-go mechanism ensures that conveyors operate only as necessary. The system prioritizes deliveries on fast lanes while buffering and picking other goods based on urgency and destination, ensuring efficient commissioning without human error.
The result is a substantially improved facility. Integration of the Interroll MCP has led to higher accuracy, increased efficiency, and enhanced customer satisfaction. The automated system processes 2,000 packages per hour, setting a new benchmark. Its zero-pressure-accumulation feature ensures seamless and precise movement of goods, while the intuitive design allows team members to rotate duties, preventing exhaustion and maintaining high motivation and safety standards.
Among the largest and most modern drug manufacturing laboratories in Europe, Normon celebrates more than 85 years of commitment to Spanish society, producing high-quality medicinal products. Twenty years ago, Normon launched its first generic drugs and has maintained its leadership in the sector ever since.
“All this integration allows us to achieve very high levels of efficiency, very high productivity, and very high quality control. The installation is totally stabilized, and the number of claims has decreased significantly.”
