Maersk has built a fully automated distribution center in Melbourne, Australia, acting as a third-party logistics (3PL) provider for a global fashion brand. This facility ensures quick and accurate order processing throughout the Oceanian region, efficiently handling the brand's warehousing and distribution needs.
The new distribution center features a sophisticated solution integrating advanced robotics, lifts, 2.5 kilometers of Interroll’s Modular Conveyor Platform (MCP) and 1 kilometer of Modular Pallet Conveyor (MPP) to automate the entire process, from receipt to dispatch of goods. The automated systems are maintained by Interroll’s expert staff to ensure maximum uptime and availability.
Maersk benefits from a highly automated distribution center capable of 70,000 picks per day and maintaining a minimum of 5,000 picks per hour. Interroll’s modular technology ensures seamless connectivity, high performance, and future scalability. Additionally, Interroll’s integration of preventative maintenance and local spare parts management guarantees maximum uptime and reliability.
“The concept with a fully automated solution is that the product comes in, is probably handled from the container onto pallet, and then literally isn't seen again by an operator or touched by human hands until that product is picked.”
