The challenge

Booktopia, Australia’s largest online bookseller, embarked on a transformative journey, building a new customer fulfillment center (CFC) to enhance its operations and adapt to changing consumer demands. The company faced challenges with the existing conveyor system in its old facility:

  • 1.6-kilometer conveyor system in the old facility no longer met the bookseller’s needs
  • Inefficiencies as Booktopia expanded and evolved
  • Reliance on manual labor due to limitations of automated processes

 

The solution

Teaming up with Smarter Automated Solutions (SAS) and Interroll Australia, Booktopia opted for Interroll Modular Conveyor Platform (MCP) and Vertical Crossbelt Sorter. This dynamic combination was a game changer, reducing conveyor length by 75 percent and increasing efficiency. The use of coated rollers not only ensured optimal functionality but also significantly reduced noise levels, creating a better working environment.
