Sant'Antonino, Switzerland, September 3, 2021. System integrators including Thai MecTech Co., Ltd. and MT Food System Co., Ltd. installed a set of state-of-the-art conveying solutions for the Charoen Pokphand Foods facility in Bình Phước, Vietnam, with Interroll Drum Motors as the key drive equipment.
Despite food safety getting more attention, very few consumers are aware of the many health risks hidden in food production. To ensure that the entire process—from raw materials to finished products—is safe and controllable, food processing companies are investing heavily. For example, processing equipment, utensils, and countertops along the production line are extremely susceptible to pollution from the external environment, thereby threatening to compromise food hygiene. With continuous development in the food processing industry and rising hygiene standards, material-handling solutions used in production areas also have to be upgraded in order to better meet the latest food safety requirements and respond to market challenges.
Charoen Pokphand Foods (CPF) is an industry leader living up to high food safety standards. CPF is the world’s largest producer of feed and shrimp and is a global top-three producer of poultry and pork. With operations in over 20 countries, it has become a well-known brand in many international markets. As a Thailand-based company, CPF continues to invest in the booming Southeast Asian market, aiming to provide customers with high-quality products that meet the highest hygiene standards. System integrators including Thai MecTech Co., Ltd. and MT Food System Co., Ltd. installed a set of conveying solutions for the CPF facility in Bình Phước, Vietnam, to help the company better respond to the challenges facing the food industry, with efficiency and hygiene at the core. As the key drive equipment, a total of 211 Interroll Drum Motors were installed, including the DM 0080, DM 0113, DM 0138, and more.
When asked why Interroll Drum Motors were chosen, CPF Executive Vice President Anurat Suthamnirun said, “The most important for food industry practice is hygiene, and with Interroll Drum Motors we can reduce most hygiene problems on the conveyors. In addition, with Interroll’s products, significantly less cleaning time is required which allows us to gain more production time and less cleaning costs.”
Interroll Drum Motors ensure highest hygienic protection and reduced energy consumption
Interroll Drum Motors have a number of unparalleled, industry-leading advantages, especially in terms of hygiene and safety. They have received the European Hygienic Engineering & Design Group (EHEDG) certification, featuring IP66/IP69K protection, which means they can provide the highest hygienic protection. In the past, food processing companies tended to use conventional gear motors as the drives for conveyors. However, because of their structure, dirt can accumulate. But with drum motors, the risk of product contamination in the food processing area is significantly reduced because most of the parts are located inside and the smooth, stainless steel surface helps reduce the possibility of dirt and microbial retention to a large extent. This also makes cleaning faster and easier. In addition to their hygienic benefits, Interroll Drum Motors are also highly efficient: They reduce energy consumption by up to 30 percent in comparison to conventional solutions. Furthermore, Interroll Drum Motors can save companies lots of time and costs since there’s no special need for maintenance during their service life. Interroll’s modular platform strategy also makes the next-generation drum motors easy to install, ensuring short and reliable delivery time.
In fact, this isn’t the first time that Interroll and the Charoen Pokphand Group have partnered. The first order between the two companies dates back to 1993, with more than 10,000 orders to date. In addition to drum motors, Interroll has also provided the Charoen Pokphand Group with a wide array of products, including Rollers, RollerDrive, and sorting systems. The common pursuit of high hygiene standards and reliable product quality have made this relationship even more solid. For system integrators, Interroll’s reliable sales team and after-sales service around the world also make it easy for them to collaborate closely and efficiently.
“It is an honor to provide our products to CPF once again. The Asia-Pacific region is one of the most important strategic markets for Interroll globally, and the food industry is critical to the national economy and people’s livelihood. Food safety is closely related to the health of everyone,” said Dr. Ben Xia, Interroll Executive Vice President Head of Operations Asia. “As a leading global provider of material-handling solutions, Interroll will continue to bring our innovative products and solutions to the Asia-Pacific market and work together with industry partners to help the food industry achieve better development featuring higher quality and efficiency.”
With its material flow solutions, Interroll actively contributes to the optimization of processes in food processing. This also shortens the time in which food circulates. At the same time, a higher level of hygiene in the conveyor systems ensures better food quality and safety. Numerous users in food processing and fresh food logistics rely on Interroll.
