How can medium-sized system integrators and OEMs use future opportunities for growth? This question was the focus of the first Rolling On Interroll Global Summit, which took place in Barcelona, Spain on September 6 and 7, 2017. More than 130 participants from Americas, Asia, Africa and Europe used the forum to intensify their business partnership.
Panel discussions, workshops, one-on-one and presentations by renowned experts such as Professor Howard H. Yu, Production Director Axel Kruse from Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team and the futurologist and trendspotter Magnus Lindkvist sparked a lively exchange of experiences at the two-day meeting of the Rolling On Interroll (ROI) community in the city. Under the motto “Growing together,” participants from around the world discussed interaction, innovation and inspiration as key topics. Meeting in Barcelona’s El Born Cultural and Memorial Center and the Miró Foundation, they also shared views on current user and market trends as well as the business opportunities arising from Industry 4.0 (i.e., smart factories) and the increasing digital transformation and automation of intralogistics.
Digitalization shapes logistics
The workshops and discussions around the topic of interaction kicked off with a panel discussion with Interroll CEO Paul Zumbühl, who reported on his management experiences and perspective of the global material handling market. He emphasized the importance of advancing the digital transformation of internal logistics processes, and the need not only to consider the technological aspects of this development, but also to train employees to master these changes.
