Significant expansion of the Interroll site has taken place in Baal/Hückelhoven (Germany). Interroll Trommelmotoren GmbH with the global Interroll Center of Excellence (CoE) of drum motors was moved to the Hückelhoven site in 2006 and employed about 160 people at that time.
Within just a short time, a completely new building complex was constructed right next to the CoE. This new complex now accommodates the Interroll Academy at 2,200 square meters as well as the Interroll Research Center (IRC) at 3,400 square meters. The global development and training activities are therefore centrally bundled in one location, allowing the company to optimally capitalize on important synergy effects from both areas.
Optimization of intralogistics creates shorter delivery times and strengthens competitiveness.
Since August 2015, the building has been home to research center, academy, and rubber coating employees who had been located in the Wassenberg site.
Dr. Hauke Tiedemann, Managing Director of Interroll Trommelmotoren GmbH:
We added our new Interroll Coating Center with its 1,300 square meters of production space onto the existing CoE production building. We were therefore able to integrate the rubber coating in the production and assembly processes in the plant according to our Interroll production system and achieve shorter delivery times for rubberized drum motors.
The new construction is 6.800 square meters in total. It has nearly doubled the size of the existing Interroll site. Tiedemann:
The new construction creates good conditions for further strengthening our competitiveness, and it helps us better integrate development and production. We can also optimize our own internal logistics. This location is another milestone in the implementation of the Interroll strategy.
