Interroll acquires BDL

In July 2006 the Interroll Group acquired German drum motor manufacturer BDL Maschinenbau mbH.
Having charted their routes separately for many years, BDL and Interroll are now part of a high-performance team that is equal to any challenge - always a full length ahead when it comes to meeting customer requirements.

Interroll & BDL have specialized in manufacturing drum motors for particularly harsh operating conditions. They can withstand high-pressure cleaning, salt water and all types of highly abrasive materials. They can even convey heavy-duty loads such as pallets. As long as the system is appropriately configured, wear and tear is negligible.

The drum motor is lubricated for life and needs no oil change. Gears and pinions are made from high quality alloy steel or polymer. The result guarantees almost no maintenance or downtime, which means lower costs and higher productivity.
More compact, safer and cleaner...

Unlike bulky conventional drive systems that fit externally on a conveyor, the drum motor is an integral part of the conveyor and is therefore much more compact. This means the conveyor requires less floor area or overhead space.

Furthermore, all moving parts are enclosed in the drum shell, which eliminates hazardous moving parts and pinch points, along with the potential for electric shock from water in conventional motors. The drive is also much cleaner and reduces bacteria contamination because there is no external grease or oil from chains, bearings guarding or couplings. As a result, safety and hygiene standards are greatly improved for employees, the workplace and product.

Quiet operation...

Drum motors operate at a very quiet 50-62 decibels, compared to 76-80 decibels for many conventional drives using chain sprockets and / or belts and this can help you meet noise regulations and improve your overall working environment.
