Different Types of Industrial Plastics

Plastic Tubes
Interroll manufactures conveyor rollers made of tubes to DIN standard. The standard allows certain deviations in concentricity.

The following tube lengths should not be exceeded for PVC-Copolymer tubes:

• sound insulation
• food grade
• easy to clean
• high impact resistance
• corrosion proof
• light weight
• high-quality design
Properties and applications for the industrial plastics used most frequently
Polyamide • excellent mechanical properties
• high resistance to wear
• low friction
• scarcely any material fatigue
• good resistance to chemicals
• applications: sprocket heads, seals and bearing housings
Polypropylene • low specific weight
• high resistance to heat
• good resistance to chemicals
• non-hygroscopic
• applications: wheels, seals and bearing housings
Polyvinyl chloride (rigid PVC) • scratch proof
• impact resistance
• good resistance to chemicals
• applications: tubes for PVC rollers
Polyoxymethylene (POM) • excellent mechanical properties
• high resistance to wear
• low friction
• high dimensional stability
• scarcely any water absorption
• used for parts with special precision requirements
• applications: toothed belt heads and slide bearings

Approximate figures

Water absorption % 3 to 4 0.7 0 0

The figures indicated are not binding. They relate to an ambient temperature of +20°C and a relative humidity of 65%. In addition, these approximate figures depend on the following parameters: duration of thermal exposure, type of mechanical load (direction of force, impacts, etc.), air humidity, solar radiation (UV), chemical influences, component geometry.
