In order to give the liquid mixture coming from the production facility time to solidify into ice cream, Unilever first enters the mixture into a freezing tunnel. The fresh ice
cream cools down to -30ºC as it runs through the flow storage lanes. Only then is it ready for delivery.
The warehouse accommodates 648 pallets wrapped up in a compact design: three levels, each with 13 lanes and a capacity of 16 pallets per lane. All in a nutshell of 4500 m3. What
an asset to have such a potent energy saver in a hot place like Spain!
Let's now have a look at safety separators and rollers. Both types of components are exposed to extreme temperatures and mechanical stress. One pallet weighs 1200 kg, which,
per lane, adds up to 20 tons of ice cream.
Two safety separators per output position guarantee maximum safety. The conveyor rollers have been specially designed by Interroll to operate smoothly even at Arctic
temperatures.
Quite a job for a flow storage system, don't you think?
-
Heavy pallets of 1200 kg
-
Extremely low ambient temperature of 30ºC below zero
-
High throughput
-
Short travel distances
-
Easy forklift service
-
Compact design saves space and energy
