Skin care with nano creams, hair care with elixirs of newly created oils, rejuvenating anti-ageing products for the body, mind and soul – the gateway to the next era of beauty starts in the Pruszków Logistics Centre just outside Warsaw. In the 5,000 sqm (53,800 sq.ft.) distribution centre, everything centres on premium brand name cosmetics by Clinique, Lancôme, Estée Lauder & Co. – the Beauty Express of Pruszków rolls into action, thanks to intelligent conveyor units, like the Interroll Intelliveyor, as well as Interroll Carton Flow, Interroll Conveyor Rollers and Belt Conveyor Modules.

Men and women are not the only ones to want this from their care products. The Access Business Group also demands this from the intralogistics of the Pruszków Logistics
Centre (PLC). Access, a subsidiary of the Alticor Group (2009 turnover: USD 8.4 billion), even insists on it, otherwise the supply chain would be interrupted to external customers
worldwide or sister companies, like Amway.
Intelligent sorting
6,000 packages are processed each day in a single shift at the Pruszków Logistics Centre. The conveyor process relies on 264 metres (866 ft.) of intelligence: the Interroll
Intelliveyor lines - consisting of 320 zones - meet the need for as long a buffer section as possible. The internal control logic of the Interroll Intelliveyor changes a
roller conveyor into an intelligent single unit conveyor, assigning each carton its own zone in the flow and allowing cartons to be buffered without coming into contact with each
other and transported on as required. Thanks to the zonal concept, the decentralised drives are only switched on when the cartons have to be moved, thereby saving energy as do the
gravity driven lanes of the Interroll Carton Flow shelves in the picking area. There, containers gently travel on Interroll's gravity roller tracks to the output side based on the
"First In First Out" (FIFO) principle.
High throughput
Three packaging machines prepare the cartons for filling in the Pruszków Logistics Centre. Once leaflets and invoices have been added and the packages have passed through
the check weigher, the boxes (weighing between 1 and 35 kg / 3 - 77 lbs.) are weighed again. If an error is detected, they are checked manually again, otherwise they are forwarded
directly for sealing and then onto despatch. There, after being sorted to destinations in Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, the parcels reach the goods forwarding area. And
what of the empty cartons? In the picking area, operators throw their empty cartons on a 45-metre long (148 ft.) section of Interroll Belt Conveyor modules running above the
picking shelves. This conveyor brings the empty cartons to a high-pressure trash container for space-saving disposal.
