Artist Sarah Pontius studied Sculpture at the University of the Arts, Berlin, and completed her studies as a masters student in the year 2007. In her artistic work, organic shapes and structures play a considerable role. Her objects and large format paper cuttings are very delicate and fragile. At the same time, her work has a very considerable level of constancy. This fragility, with its simultaneous stability, and the balance between becoming and fading away, is a principle of life which the artist wants to track with her work. In the context of the arts support programme of the Interroll Group in cooperation with the Karl Hofer Society in Berlin, in the large Interroll studio in Tessin, southern Switzerland, Sarah Pontius was able to turn new ideas into reality. Her delicate, abstract paper cuttings were underpinned with background images of similar shapes, as a result of which the three dimensional impression was particularly strengthened through the influence of light and colour. |
